Wikipedia Stages 24-Hour Protest Against Proposed US SOPA & PIPA Bills

Today, on Wednesday 18 January 2012, is the day where you'll be greeted with this screen if you happen to use the english language version of Wikipedia:

The free, collaborative, multilingual internet encyclopedia, is usually a non-partisan source of openly sharing information in a rational way. However, it's stance has swiftly switched into self-defence mode in response to the emergence of the possibility of the US Senate passing certain bills into law that would greatly impact upon 'Pedia's nature to freely display informative content for all. Therefore, a 24-hour shutdown of the site is in process in protest against these proposals, and as an example of what could happen as a result of said laws being enforced.

The bills in reference are SOPA and PIPA. SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act;House Bill 3261 or H.R. 3261) and PIPA (PROTECT IP Act; Senate Bill 968 or S. 968) are acts that gives the US Government and copyright holders the power to set out to drastically limit the access to websites that are infringing upon copyrighted material known as IP (Intellectual Property). These bills are very similar in nature in that they're both anti-piracy based, but PIPA is in further stages of discussion to being passed as its reached the US Senate whereas SOPA is just at the US House of Representatives. Alice Marwick's article What’s the difference between SOPA and PIPA? briefly explains the bills in a brief but more detailed manner.

The beef Wikipedia has with these bills is that it feels that they limit free speech on the internet. The potential and scope these bills is staggering. To put things into perspective; a site like YouTube could be seriously hampered as to what its allowed to show if a single uploaded clip has copyrighted material on it. To take things to another level, it's not just websites that can be targeted but us the general public ourselves. As Don't Tread On Mike explains: But the scariest provision of all, for me, is the felony streaming provision. Under SOPA, the person who uploads the copyrighted content could be charged with a felony and imprisoned for 5 years. This provision even includes public performances. Let me make that clear for you. If you post a video of yourself singing a copyrighted song on youtube, you could be charged with a felony and go to prison for 5 years. If you post a video of your 9 year old daughter’s recital where they sing a copyrighted song, you could be charged with a felony and go to prison for 5 years. You don’t even have to upload the actual song. Just by singing the song yourself on youtube could make you a felon and earn you 5 years in prison.

So, the SOPA and PIPA bills are centred on combating anti-piracy and copyright/IP infringement on the internet; but it could certainly progress into the real world. Imagine a world when you can no longer enjoy singing your favourite Justin Bieber tune out loud for fear of being arrested for "illegally" "sharing" copyrighted content (for the record; although having the guilty pleasures of singing cheesy songs in the shower on numerous occasions, AYTD would never sing a Justin Bieber song out in public... honest. Incidentally, Don't Tell Mike notes that: "As people have been recently pointing out, if this had passed earlier, Justin Bieber would be a hardened criminal by now. Those of us who didn’t follow his meteoric rise to fame (darn, I must have missed it) may not know that he originally got discovered when he posted a video of himself singing a Chris Brown song on youtube.)".

The New World Order wants us all to shrivel up in acquiescence in order that we feel utterly helpless and weak to do anything let alone defend ourselves against these sadistic, sociopathic tyrants. They feed off our misery as we plead to them to stop inflicting inhumane mental and physical activity on us. Thankfully many of us are not giving up so easily, and we must all do whatever we can to reject submission to them and fight to keep our freedoms and liberties we so often take for granted. Who knows, one day AYTD will proudly bleat out the chorus of Baby, maybe even throw in a bit of ...Baby One More Time  too...

Oh dear.

Allah's Ayat - Animal Submission

With God's allowance, AYTD would like to introduce yet another series to the blog. Called Allah's Ayat, it brings forth proof of God's existence and backs up everything that He revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) within the holy message known as The Qur'an for us all to see, acknowledge and understand, and then follow as best we can.

Ayat is the umbrella term given to various proofs, evidence, signs etc that are shown in plain view to all believers in God, The Creator, and to best follow His guidelines which are clearly set out throughout The Qur'an.

The first exhibit of Allah's Ayat is that of animal submission. Allah is the Creator of everything, from the largest stars and planets to the smallest of animals such as amoebas and plankton. It is He that breathes life into whatever He wishes, and to Him said life goes back to, also whenever He so desires. Everything that believes in this is willing to sacrifice itself in thanks and praise to that which created it in the first place. The Qur'an states many times over that particular animals were made in order to feed and clothe mankind:

"And the cattle, He has created them for you; in them there is warmth (warm clothing), and numerous benefits, and of them you eat."
(Chapter 16: An-Nahl (The Bees); verse 5)

"And verily! In the cattle, there is a lesson for you. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, from between excretions and blood, pure milk; palatable to the drinkers."
(Chapter 16: An-Nahl (The Bees); verse 66)

"And Allah has made for you in your homes an abode, and made for you out of the hides of the cattle (tents for) dwelling, which you find so light (and handy) when you travel and when you stay (in your travels), and of their wool, fur, and hair (sheep wool, camel fur, and goat hair), a furnishing and articles of convenience (e.g. carpets, blankets, etc.), a comfort for a while."
(Chapter 16: An-Nahl (The Bees); verse 80)

Below is a video showing how the Word of God can be understood by animals as they submit and relinquish their lives so that they complete their purpose of existing:

The full version (split into three parts) of the above video can be  here, here and here (extreme viewer discretion is advised as the slaughter of animals is on display in the last part). Many thanks to YouTube uploaders  and Mercy Slaughter LLC (username ).

All thanks and praises go to Allah, the One and Only God; Creator of all things. It is He that gives life to whatever and whenever He wants; and back to Him life returns. God is indeed great.

AYTD's Qur'an Quote #60

"O mankind! Verily, there has come to you the Messenger (Muhammad pbuh) with the truth from your Lord, so believe in him, it is better for you. But if you disbelieve, then certainly to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. And Allah is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise."

(Surah 4: Al-Nisa (The Women); verse 170)

AYTD's Qur'an Quote #59

"The Messenger's duty [i.e. Our Messenger Muhammad whom We have sent to you, (O mankind)] is but to convey (the Message). And Allah knows all that you reveal and all that you conceal."

(Surah 5: Al-Ma'idah (The Table Spread With Food); verse 99)

AYTD's Qur'an Quote #58

"And if you (Arab pagans, Jews, and Christians) are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down (i.e. the Qur'an) to Our slave (Muhammad Peace be upon him ), then produce a Surah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allah, if you are truthful."

(Surah 2: Al-Baqarah [The Cow]; verse 23)
